Didn't you just today (or yesterday) complain about struggling to afford it all being an art student With a part time job that doesn't give a lot of hours?
First of all, focus on the important things like keeping it on the road. Don't worry about silly things like that.
Second, it's a Ranger for Christ's sake. An old beater truck. No one else Will really care at all what the thing sounds like.
It's not worth your money or effort to do so.

Honestly, I say you don't need it, you have a very clean truck, better keep it stock.

I did one on my '97 and it made the exhaust note a bit more aggressive without going overboard on outright noise (it was a Gibson), but the primary benefit was improved throttle response.
